TRUST

A few weeks ago we were sitting in the green room sharing about what was going on in our lives. Kaitlyn took a moment to recap what she has been walking through over the past months, and one statement she made struck me hard. Over the past months, Kaitlyn has walked through a lot of different hardships (which honestly is an understatement) that have definitely been frustrating to go through let alone overwhelming to process. Personally, I have watched other people walk out of what she has gone through and it has crushed them but Kaitlyn and her husband, Jared, have always seemed to come out through it stronger. As Kaitlyn shared some of what she was processing she made the comment,

"I think it is the first time in my life that I am learning to really trust in the Lord. You do not learn to trust in the Lord until you are completely out of the equation."

That statement blew me away. As a person who has been Kaitlyn's friend for a long time not it has been crazy to watch her walk through different hardships. But what is a lot cooler is watching how each season, each mountain, and each valley have actually made her a more consistent person. Paraphrasing Timothy Keller, Christians should be the most grounded and level people on the planet. Our highs should never puff us up and our lows cannot crush us because we realize everything that we go through is by God's grace.

Kaitlyn's story has honestly been an inspiration to me because I have seen every high and low drive her to let go and trust Jesus. We learn to trust Jesus when we are finally out of the equation. So let us trust in the Lord with all of our hearts. Lean not on our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight (Psalm 3).
